The City of Melbourne’s new Community Safety Officers are now on duty across the city to help keep Melbourne safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
CSOs address issues affecting public safety, patrol areas where antisocial behaviour occurs, use de-escalation techniques, and issue fines or directions for breaches of certain laws. They also support Victoria Police when required.
The team was established following Council’s decision on 17 June 2025 and operates seven days a week across the municipality.
Community members are encouraged to approach CSOs with any safety concerns. They are here to help and provide a visible safety presence across the city.
However, in an emergency, always call 000.
